Seriously. All lovers of 16-bit RPG's should download the translation patch and apply it to their backup copies.
I just played through it for the first time (skipped DQ 2-7 but am playing through them all now) and it is far and away my favorite SNES era RPG. There aren't even nostalgia glasses to make me feel this way. I even like it better than FFVI for crying out loud.
Anyways the main game is pretty reasonable. I did a Hero, Thief/Martial Artist, Priest/Sage, Magician/Sage run through all the way through the final baddie of the bonus dungeon. Personality was Sullen, sullen, sexy, sexy. I also did a Hero run through the final boss of the main game but won't attempt the bonus dungeon with him.
