Yup. A large part of it has to do with huge companies like Walmart and Conoco and Johnson and Johnson buying back huge amounts of their stock, thus artificially overvaluing their stock while actual earnings stay the same.

It means the news will be all over it. Even though it was an incremental increase.

It means those who are withdrawing from retirement funds now are happy.

It means those who are saving for retirement now will be poorer when we retire.

It means people who are daytraders either are richer or poorer today.

how is that artificial? it's all supply and demand.

anyway, there is no such thing as overvalued. just value.

I mean artificial in the sense that the increase isn't due to the companies actually earning more. It's higher simply because there are fewer stocks out there now due to the buybacks, and so supply is low, demand is high, and stock prices are becoming inflated.

Wonder why the Nasdaq hasn't rebounded yet? Once it hit 6000+, then the bubble just burst.

Too bad that all manufacturing jobs are still going to China since Mexico is too expensive. Hail to the 5%.

The 10 year line still looks scary thanks to the "dot bomb" and 9-11, though. It also makes it look like we're due for a massive correction.
