The dodge magnum is sweet, as you know, but it's annoying you can't ONLY get the 3.5 V6 option.

So sue me, these are sweet cars. The hemi is obviously the nice one, but this is a family car and who can make use of 340 HP on public roads anyway? That leaves the 2.7 and 3.5 L v6s with 190, 250 HP. 190 with an automatic transmission and a car weighing close to 4000 lbs is not gonna cut it, but 250 HP would. Unfortunately you have to buy other crap packages, which brings the bottom line MSRP of about $22-23k up to 27k, which is only $3k short of the V8. How damnable!

I understand how you feel, I am still scratching my head as to why no manual is offered in the 300, Magnum or Charger. IT MAKES NO FRIGGIN SENSE!!!
Hopefuly Daimler-Chrysler will get thier heads out of thier rectums and see that cars being sold as "sporty" need manual transmissions to complete the look. And make it more competive.

I thought the same, and maybe the website is broken, but go to dodge.com and you CAN get the 5 speed with the hemi, at least according to their site. I was sure it was an auto-only car...

Nice thing about this is the interior is quite nice. It's roomy, obviously, but the interior wasn't rinky dink. I tell you if I had about $30k right now I'd just buy the V8 version and be done with it. Still keep one maxima though :)

I disagree on the first point..

340HP is definately a lot, but in a 4000lb car with the proper gearing(which I'm sure it has)... It isn't going to make it un-streetable, i'd say quite the opposite infact...

Even your average soccer mom is going to appreciate the responsiveness and pickup that 340HP brings, even if she doesen't have a concept of horsepower.

I don't think it's a bad thing.

I do agree with the basic premise of your post, though. It's silly that the V6 versions are close in price to the V8. It's like, whats the point?

Too much of a minivan, though they were well rated I think and as far as minivans go they are attractive.

Oh it's very streetable in terms of comfort, and it might be useable once in a blue moon, but if you're giving it full throttle more than once in a blue moon you'll see blue lights behind you soon enough. I can't even drive my maximas hard without wondering if po-po is going to get me!

That's because you be e-Thuggin' it hard, and they can see that in the driver, not the car. Them Pigs be trippin' on my Honda 24/7, so don't sweat 'em. Pop ya collar!

I push the Mark VIII pretty hard and pretty regularly and haven't ever had a problem with the police. I mean, it only has 280 HP, but it can get up and go pretty well.

Bah!

:)

I'd really like to trade my wife's aging passat (85,000 miles) in on this Pacifica -

I'm getting there but haven't quite given up on life enough to get a minivan yet. The station wagon is probably just as bad though ;)

You're in an Old Man's Car, you don't count. I could drive my Civic within legal limits and draw more attention than you would blowing by a radar trap at WOT. :p

85K miles is aging? Is this some veedub thing?

Nah, I just want to get rid of it while it still has some value left in it. I'd ideally want to dump it before the new Passats hit the lots and it hits the 100k mark. It will just rapidly plummet in value once those hit.

Gotta love it. The Mark is almost invisible to police, and yet it's just a wee bit faster than the Civic. ;)
