This is the first PS3/console thread I've responded to in general.

Yes, I got the fact the first 15 times that the PS3 failed big time.
Yes, I know that almost everyone thinks the Wii or 360 is better.
Yes, posting things about the PS3 was relevant and slightly informational...about 2 months ago

Please, for the love of everything merciful, please stop the PS3 threads, I see about 20 of them a week. It failed, we get it

Personally I heart my PS3. Resistance is very nice, and I enjoy Blu-ray movies and demos.

Give it a year. Sony will have sold 10+ million consoles and 100+ million games and Blu-Ray movies. Everyone loves Sony and the franchises it attracts.

Yep...the hardcore and videophiles are getting theirs now. After that, the PS3 is a tough sell to the casual gamer/parents at $500-$600. The PS2 will end up selling more than the PS3 in 2007 I betcha.

Wait, they filed a patent for a Wiimote-style controller?
Did Nintendo not patent their Wiimote?

Watch and see. Your average gamer these days is 18-25.. the prime age for disposable income and wastefulness.

These people seem to disagree.
They do? Actually they agree even more strongly, with the average gamer age being 30 a point at which people have even more disposable income. 2/3 of gamers are at least 18 years old.

Only 10% of video games sold are "children & family" where the wii has an edge, 90% are other genres where eye candy matters and the wii is a distant second in power to the PS3 and xbox.

wii is currently hot, a fad, and bringing in new casual gamers. It's definitely going to be a success, but those 25-35 year olds with healthy bank accounts are also going to buy an xbox or PS3 to play shooters, action, RPG etc. games with real next gen visuals.

fanboys and system hatred
its annoying as hell. move on already. if you don't like the console, so what.. don't preach about it though, damn.
this crap is everywhere, people just want companies to fail. i don't understand the logic.
oh and a lot of those 'failures' were not failures in a commercial/company sense, just what the public sees as failures. big difference considering quite a few of those were purposeful and pure stupid execs hyping their product. it's not unheard of, so why people backlash on sony all of a sudden is beyond me. wait, i know.. sole reason, it's expensive. but guess what? we've heard that complaint a thousand times. it's old. if you're not getting one, who cares.
(this is not directed only at OP but all mindless fools who bash sony like it's the new in-thing.. oh wait it is :( )

It's the weekend and I'm a bit under the weather, but my understanding is that if the average gamer is 30, then he can't be 18-25. Now if I've somehow misread something, I appologize.

People think the Playstation is more expensive...but it's actually cheaper than an Xbox 360 with the same features.

PS3 20GB version = $500. still better than a cripled Xbox360 with HD-DVD, which costs $500 as well.

The Xbox had squat for game titles at launch.

Just give it time. PS3 will do just fine.

Yeah, but most people aren't going to need "fancy smancy" blu-ray or even hd-dvd. They are just going to look for a reasonably priced system to play games and watch a dvd or two.
