The Disappearing NAS

I've been running a D-Link DNS-321 NAS for several years now without too many problems...until recently.

My main computer is a Dell XPS8500 running Windows 10. Another computer, 2 feet away, is a Dell Optoplex 7010 running Windows 7 Professional. While the Optoplex still detects the NAS (so I guess the NAS is just fine), the XPS8500 simply does not see it. I've tried restarting the NAS and the computer, but it didn't help.

I'm at a loss as what to do next. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How are the two systems hooked up? (To which router(s), are you using wifi, etc.) A doodle of your network topology would be useful.

There are several possible - and common - quirks with network topology that could cause this.

Also, while I applaud your frugality, I also had a DNS-321. They are dog-slow. I would be remiss if I didn't point out that any modern 2-bay NAS would be 5-10x as fast for network file copies.

I have a DNS-325 and have run into that issue.
Can you ping by IP?
If so, check you router or whatever you are using for dns. Might need to update it there
