From the article, O'Neill is the guy (actor?) the repubs squared off against Kerry with. It seems they have a penchant for hired guns....
John O?Neill hit back at Kerry with administration-orchestrated press appearancesof his own, including a news conference that June. O?Neill asked rhetorically, ?Shall Mr. Kerry and his little group of one thousand or twelve thousand embittered men be allowed to represent their views as that of all veterans, because they can appear on every news program? I hope not, for the country?s sake.?

"Orchestrated" Yeah, that's it. Perfect word to describe what these guys did and still do.

Yeah, I thought the conversations between Nixon and his aides were revealing. They knew Kerry would eventually run for political office and when he did they went after him.

Looks like Kerry has be mis-representing the views of those he says he represents for a very long time.

Where did he misrepresent? You deny atrocities were commited againt the Vietnamese in that little adventure? Because the Repubs were able to draft a wacko to go after someone telling the damned truth doesn't mean it was correct to do so....

so, why were you banned from ars?

Because of my radical political ideas.

Kinda like Kerry orchestrated the false testimony to congress?

False testimony? Much of what he said is documented fact. Dig around a little.

I think it was proven that many of his witnesses were falsifying information, why dont you dig around.

yep

Where did he misrepresent?
he didn't represent the views of the majority of the men he said he did: those in the military during Vietnam. But i don't actually think this much matters, he was just a hippie kid, no big deal.

Opponents Distorting Kerry's 1971 Senate Testimony

RIGHTWING FICTION: John Kerry accused fellow Vietnam Veterans of widespread atrocities and war crimes during his 1971 Senate testimony.

FACT: John Kerry served his country with honor and distinction. During his 1971 Senate testimony he did not directly accuse fellow Vets of war crimes. Rather, he shared stories that other veterans related at the Winter Soldier hearings.

The facts, in case you're interested....

They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country."

Hell, my brother-in-law (at the time) was over there and decribed having heads and ears displayed as trophies. You guys really doubt this stuff went on?
I suppose William Calley never existed either.

I had a friend in HS who served there and when he came back he told us tales of getting high on Smack and taking long distance potshots at the peasants when they were bored. They thought it was hilarious when those peasants would go scrambling to save their lives. Needless to say he wasn't the same guy when he came back from there as he was when I knew him in school.

Well, they had no real purpose for being there. Sec. of State McNamara has since confirmed that the administrations of the time blundered in being in Vietnam in the first place and then not getting out ASAP when it was found to be pure folly.

Here's more discussion of what went on over there:
Seymour Hersh wrote that by March of 1968 "many in the company had given in to an easy pattern of violence." Soldiers systematically beat unarmed civilians. Some civilians were murdered. Whole villages were burned. Wells were poisoned. Rapes were common.
