I've mentioned before that my mother is a high-end wedding/portrait photographer, and runs a business out of our basement.

Well today I just went and picked up the mother of all cameras, along with a 4gb Lexar card to give us a decent amount of images without reloading. This thing is a beast. I'll try to upload some images later. Good camera, and it can shoot really quickly, too.

So if your on the fence between buying a camera and a car, the 1Ds Mk.II is, in fact, alot of camera.

from the business account. The digital move is killer. Lots more work, we have to do all the editing/color balancing, etc. etc. now, the lab used to take care of that.

Every time we get out into deep black territory we need a new camera or computer or something that just chews into that. It has made the business more lucrative, though, and we won't need a new camera for at least 3-4 years now.

yeah it's not as bad if you already have some EF lenses, right? My brother started with a 35mm Rebel when he was 16, then got a EOS-3, then took a huge plunge into digital by getting the EOS-1D (think he might be still paying it off). He most recently got a 20D as a 2nd digicam, but I mean he already has a lot of EF lenses by now. It's still an expensive hobby/occupation if you want to keep up with the latest stuff...

1ds MKII + L lens is the ultimate wepon of photography.
BTW, how much did you pay for that? Regular $10,000 price?

I pity you for getting stuck with that Lexar card. Out of eight 256mb Lexars that my friend bought a couple years ago, only one is still working :(
