The different between Athlon "classic" and T-bird?

The new AMD Thunderbird includes 256K full speed cache (900MHz processor speed = 900MHz cache speed), instead of the half speed 512K found on the original PIII and AMD Athlon classic chips. The Thunderbird is also available in Socket A and in many cases is actually cheaper than its phased out relative, the AMD Athlon classic.

Actually, he's right.

The Cache on the classic is like a old p3, cache outside, the thunderbird has the cache within the processor, so if you don't see two big chips next to the processor die, than it's a t-bird.

thanks for the info.

but I am not quite sure where is "two big chips next to the processor die"?
can you kindly show me?

How about serial number?

wel the athlon wil be in a package and on a t-bird it's just a square with pins on the back(you can see the core). If you are talking about socket a t-birds I have no clue exept the cache.
