they are selling both 3870 and 3850 at exactly msrp. I wonder if maybe they cut a deal with amd in which they are guaranteed inventory if they don't go over msrp. seems like a win/win to me.

Or maybe they realized they were tarnishing their otherwise decent reputation.

lifetime generally means LIFETIME OF THE PRODUCT.... which is typically 1 to 3 years depending on the manufacturer...

Looking at visiontek website it seems like it seems like it is for an unspecified "lifetime of the product". However it doesn't say what the lifetime of the product is.

They do clearly state that it is free from manufacturing defects and list a plethorea of reasons why they wouldn't provide warranty, all of which impossible to proove/disprove... so it really all depends on how they treat their customers... anyone had history dealing with visiontek warranty?

I've seen pics of the 3870 on Newegg with a single 6 pin power connector, is that a mistake or something?

I thought its power consumption was a little over the 8800GT on load, and that card has two 6 pin power connectors.

Power consumption is almost 100w less than the 2900XT so it doesn't need a 2nd connector.

Didn't Visiontek go out of business? I thought they were purchased by BFG or something like that.

ps wasn't Visiontek the only american card manufacture at one time?

Apparently the MSI version comes with Lord of the Rings Online and Colin McRae: Dirt. MSI cards are usually more expensive though at least in Canada.

Most reviews I've seen show the card's power consumption below that of 8800gt.

I've had a bad experience with Sapphire, so I would stay away with them. They're a Chinese Company (you can do the math with all the current news items about China and goods) and on top of that they charge you $15 to do an RMA, plus the shipping to ship your card out. I had a x1950 pro that was defective from day 1, I spent months troubleshooting my build to diagnose the problem, and I will never purchase a Sapphire ever again
