The difference between AMD cores

What exactly is the difference between AMD cores? I am about to buy a processor, and I get a message that tells me I can upgrade to a better core for more money. My options are AXIA, AYHJA, and AYHJA with 3rd line Y Core. What's the difference? Are they all 1 GHz 266 FSB chips, or what? Is this just something that matters only if I'm overclocking?

The steppings you mention are what overclockers tend to look for. However save yourself the hassle and get a XP Pally.
