Personally, I never understood why pitchers aren't expected to be serious hitters. Maybe they need more 'roids?

It's not just for pitchers. The players union wants to be able to keep fat-asses who can't field a position (like David Ortiz) employed.
FYI Dumb Ass, Ortiz can play First Base . When Boston played inter league where the games were in the National League Teams home field Ortiz did play first and played it wellOriginally posted by: GagHalfrunt

And yes, the DH is a STUPID idea.
I'm a fan of a team who's never won a Cup during their existence... it's expected nobody cares about them.Originally posted by: Insane3D

If you have limited time playing a position you are going to be rusty. If he played it day in and day out I'm sure he'd be adequate. Look at ARod when he first played Third Base with the Stankees, he had some trouble until he became comfortable playing that position.Originally posted by: brunswickite

He played 10 games at first this year, in which he made two errors. Not that great.
Sure he CAN play first base, but he doesn't, unless Boston is playing in a National league park. The fact is he has limited range and is a subpar fielder.

a day after i say this and what happens?!!? bochy doesnt let peavy come out to pitch in the 9th with a 2-1 lead and hoffman blows the save and the giants take a 3-2 lead. 1 out away from chopping the magic number to 2 and now it looks like the giants might be within 3 games! frustration has officially set in!! and oh great, as i type that last sentence, a hoffman city cheverlot commercial followed up by a corkys pest commerical with ostkua in it who has blown our last 2 games before this one!!Originally posted by: anxi80
i also like when old school managers (larussa, mckeon) dont rely on pitches thrown and just go by how the pitcher is doing.
