I was flippin through the channels yesterday, and saw a trailer for a new filmed called The Departed (can't find it anywhere online yet), and I was like hey... this reminds me ALOT like the movie Infernal Affairs. So, it turns out it's a remake of that movie - which came out just three years ago. wtf?

I enjoyed Infernal Affairs, and people should go see it. It's a pretty good movie about an undercover cop hanging out with the bad guys versus a bad guy mole working with the cops. The Departed comes out with an allstar cast: Dicaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, and a bunch others.

Anyone else care besides me? :)

edit: Trailers for the two movies. One funny thing to notice is the scenes where they break the guy's cast that's suppose to have a hidden mic in it.

Anyone else think that the "sneak peak" looked really hokey? The original was dark and moody...this one seems almost peppy.

Another good Hong Kong crime drama is "Running out of Time"

Some actor overlap, visually similiar. Story is a guy finds out he has a month to live so he goes after the mobsters that killed his dad. There is a fair amount of humour, some decent action, pretty good story. Good movie.

I dont want to rain on your parade, but most movies nowadays had ideas from somwhere else.
Either another movie or a book or a short story or something similar.

West Side Story the movie was based off a play which was based off Romeo and Juliet.

Star Wars was based off old Samurai legends.

Point Of No Return was made from La Femme Nikita.

Thats life dude.

oh, no! they stole the idea from the movie D.O.A.

another fun idea: watch The Hidden Fortress and then watch Star Wars.
