Awww the party lines are neatly drawn in each post.... and are on every news anchor on every network.

Republicans see no need for any action since they believe they will win this one and fear they wouldnt win a second one.

Democrats see an action is needed because they believe they should have won this one and are confident they will win a second.

If a re-election occurs, all Buchanan and Nader voters will realize (like they did not before) that there vote was wasted so different results would probably occur.

If no vote occurs, their are a few thousand voters that the first few say they started complaining before polls closed when Gore was winning (or according to CNN a day later)

And outside the US, dictatorships, communist countries and a heard of penguins all plan to attack when the country is weakest and its democracy is crumbling.

And most people voted for one canidate because they did not want the other to win. Whichever person is elected will always have a longer paragraph on them in the history books.

Well, if anyone wants to riot for one reason or another, let me know, I am in Austin, I am sure we can get one going here..... ORGANIZE PEOPLE! We need to work together to destroy the nation.

I am all for rioting and stuff but only if I get to wear some Road Warrior get up. Lots of leather, football shoulder pads, and one of those mohawk deals.

Hehehe, YES! I want a new color tv... ummm I mean... this is injustice! Yeah, Thats it...

Too bad Gore or Bush weren't black... (I dont think they are, I never seen their picture) because either way we could call it racial injustice and those in LA would be set on their way.... And I am sure there are enough hics and those stupid guys who like to wear their piss stained white sheets at times other than Halloween to riot here... I am sure they have some in Tennessee too....

Oh well, we can still hope for a few riots if the two parties try hard enough... I want that tele..... I mean justice! My vote isnt worth as much as anyone's in Florida, equality in vote indeed!

I have a few bottle of alcohol to get the people going and to start the fires, and we can always get more on the way, (like in the South Park's reinactment of the Civil War)

"See you down in Arizona Bay!"

Now back to rioting and all the other stuff....

"Some say the end is near,
some say we will see armageddon soon.
certainly hope we will
sure could use a vacation
from this bull sh*t three ring circus side show of freaks...."

"F*** smiley glad-hands
With hidden agendas."

"Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipsh*ts."

That is the butchering of a TOOL song known as Aenema from the cd Aenima

Its out of order, the dumbfounded dipsh*ts came first, but hey we better start quick before the tidal waves....

da bastard.

I actually liked your clear analysis of the issue. It's a shame. Neither side is concerned with fairness, just winning, and hope the law will rule their way.

Pennstate, thank you. Most people have ignored my 2 attempts in this off topic forum for a clear view as I see it and so I have let me alter ego of sarcasm and anacrchy take over....

I wish more people would look at it as more of a 3rd person view and step out side of their hate for one canidate or one party or the other. It is very hard for some people to do that, I had to talk to a friend for 30 mintues to get him off his hate-Gore opinion before he would tell me, yes he still thought Bush was a good canidate and was the best one for the Republican party.

What really bothers me is that our media can not look at it clearly. CNN is the worst one that I could see on the channels. Each anchor shows its opinion and so does the network. They should have their editorials, but they should try to inform the masses with what they have researched for themselves to be the facts and not eat the propaganda from the two politcal machines.

I did vote for Gore (out of hate for my Govenor and belief of his unfit for the job) but tried to look at the situation objectively in my first statement. The scenario here could only be worse if a canidate was from a minority. But as of now, both canidates will be given their place in textbooks and the declared winner will be booed by 49% of America. I can't take a stance on what should be done because I beleive the voters in Palm beach were telling the truth in their errors. But I do not have any opinion if anything should be done. In my life, though I hated it, most people said "tough luck". I disagreed with that and have been able to convince teachers and others 1/3 of the time that my intent should count and bascially it was up to the one in power to decide if my intent or my action mattered. (That reminds me, that to Catholics, intent or thoughts do matter)

da bastard,

Right now neither side think they're Right, they both just think they've won. The real issue for a judge is the will of the Floridian majority vs the fairness of the electoral procedure. The Republicans will argue the a fair electoral process was followed while the Democrats will argue that right of representation was neglected. The judge must decide whether the purpose of the judicial system is to ensure the right of individual constitutional representation in this election, or whether the system is there only to make sure no laws were broken. The question of precedence, IMO, is not relevant in this case. Never in the history has an presidential election been so close. The closeness of this election is about 1 vote difference per every 30 precints in FL. And the magnitude of disputed votes is 110 times the margin of victory. There's always a first in every court decision, and there's no reason why in this case, an unprecedented decision can not be made in this unprecedented election. There are two popular views that judges prescribe to. One is a decision based purely and literally on the language of the law. Another is a decision based on the original Intent of the law. The final decision in this dispute will depend on which view the presiding judge subscribes to. The higher that one goes on the judicial ladder, the more likely the the "original intent" of the law would be considered. However, there's also a reluctance of a decision because such ruling would have broad consequences. Despite these factors, the law governing society today has evolved quite a bit from the absolute literal interpretation of the original Constitution. IMO, The presiding judge in this case should not limit the scope of his/her decision to narrow definitions because what's at stake is the grander purpose of why we have elections. These judges should treat this case as if this is the first presidential election in America. The decision should adhere to the law as literally as possible but also not be afraid of bold judgements. There is always a first for everything.

Well put Pennstate.

When the judge or judges announce the decision, (I assume this will be settled in court) I am sure they will give a very long statement that explains their decision. I hope the judges will be true nonpartisan mediators and try to look at the situation fairly. I just hope their statement can satisfy a nation on ends and at each others throats. Luckily (Or unfortunately for would be looters) the population is just exchanging words and not blows as would be in many other countries.
