I gave that monitor a fair try anyways. ;)

Ahh yes, but I don't have the blurry text @ 16 x 12 @ 100hz. I just picked up a beefier cable..voilla.

:p

I may get the right screwdriver to try and mess with the focus ports on the side...just to see how they work..

Meh, whatever, I gave it a chance. I have no such blurriness problems over DVI. :D

(Not to say that I wouldn't mind having that monitor again if it didn't have that problem - but it's $$$$ and I'm happy with my LCD :p)

The difference is that at 1920x1200, the desktop and text on 2405fpw is crystal clear and sharp and doesn't hurt your eyes trying to focus on things.

I doubt you're using something like 1920x1440 or 2048x1536 as your everyday native desktop on your CRT. Games sure, but desktop? 1600x1200 or 1800x1440 at 85hz is usually the optimum recommended desktop resolution for 21"-22" CRT. Running at 1600x1200 @ 100hz is just going to give you blurrier text than @ 85hz. Just because your monitor supports it doesn't mean you should use it. Recommended optimum resolution on your NEC 2141 is 1600x1200 @ 85hz. That's what NEC recommends you use.

I use 1600 x 1200 @ 100hz, and my desktop and text is razor sharp clear. The 2405FP is nice, but it simply can't match a monitor like the 2141, in anything but possibly text.

Plain and simple.

No, I don't use 2048 x 1536 as my desktop, but I could if I wanted, and I could still run 85hz doing it. In fact, NEC told me it would run that resolution @ 100hz if there was a video card that supported it.

So? You say that like 65lbs is a lot...wuss. :p

2048 x 1536 @ 85Hz :p

Havn't said this for a while, but here goes:

I take my 2005FPw for walks on the beach.

It's light like that.

Well, in that case, the LCD would be easier to carry around no doubt.

It's not that improtant though since carrying either on the beach will look weird to say the least...;)

Plain and simple.

You want to talk about plain and simple. There is absolutely no way your desktop and text is razor sharp clear at 1600x1200 @ 100hz on your NEC 2141. You may think it's razor sharp clear but put it up next to a LCD and you'll see how fuzzy it is. Even professional grade version is not that sharp and it cost 3 or 4x the price of new 2141.

Even 1600x1200 @ 60hz on CRT is no match to LCD when it comes to text clarity. As you go higher Hz, the text gets worse. I don't see why you use 100hz at 1600x1200. You're just getting worse text quality. Just because your monitor supports that maximum refresh rate doesn't mean you should use it.

Maybe if your roommate was using analog vga. No way DVI 19" Dell LCD has worse text than 19" KDS CRT at 1600x1200. Sorry, simply not possible.

well face it is is possiable

he was running it on the DVI from a ATI 9700 pro and i was running it from either a gforce 4 or a martox g450,

we actually put them both on the same comp, me on teh analog him on the DVI and mine still looked better
