The definition of suck!

You would think that a suburb of a large city like Chicago would have the infrastructure to handle a fire at a power sub-station without plunging 7000+ households into the dark age for a couple days.

I will be ever so happy to leave this state. Time to go back to Cali where the power outages are short and are just a tool to justify rate increases, lol.

/end rant

cliff notes: 44+ hours with no electric and I live in the USA.

lol .. i have had a power outage before for like an hour and a half and we had to get the candles out (it was dark with no lights ).. it was fun 😀

It was actually sort of fun the first night... watched a battery operated telly(UK content) the first night and drank some wine. The second night I was loathing Leno(battery operated TV's only get so many channels) and Conan O'Brien.

If I had plans to stay here I would get a generator but I am not planning on staying here long.

when me and my friends first moved into our apartment... the lady said the power would be moved into our name. however... she didn't bother to tell us the power was currently NOT ON.

so... we sat around for 2 or 3 days in the dark and slept on uninflated air mattresses lol

it was actually hella fun.
