I definently agree. you should replace all fans and such and charge the company for it.
it might not be now, but eventually, the fan will fail. better get it now while u can then.
anyway, best of luck!:thumbsup::)

i wouldn't advocate fraud but i also wouldn't have touched anything until the insurance rep came over, either your homeowners or their companies.

Honesty is the best policy no doubt Snatchy, but being realistic about how things really work is a good thing too.

About five years ago, my apt. in Alaska became flooded with raw sewage (the city fckued up bigtime). The whole apt was obviously contaminated. They asked me to do an audit of all goods. I did just that and was totally honest about what I lost and what the price of the goods were. Problem was, when the insurance check was cut, it was about 1/3 of the amount of what I submitted. Reason? They calculate your claim using depreciated dollars NOT replacement cost. So, those multiple pairs of $40 Levis that were ruined, well, I got back 1/3 their value. Needless to say I was po'd and wrote a rather nasty letter to that insurance co.. The only one that lost big on that was me, not those hardworking Joe's from city works that screwed up (I'm sure they felt bad but still got paid their hourly rate). The only thing I wanted was my goods replaced, nothing more. Nice guys do indeed finish last. As far as all those scam artist insurance companies, all I have to say is fvck, the fvcking, fvckers...

Cant really compare a sewage spill to what happened to that computer. Sewage spills are very nasty. EPA gets involved with any sewage spill thats reported within the U.S. People can and have lost their jobs over even small sewage spills. I know. I work for a county utlity dept. If you got only 1/3-1/2 value then you truly did get screwed over. If you failed to push for a full value compensation (meaning getting a lawyer, etc.,) then you let yourself get screwed over. Not trying to sound harsh but thats the reality of it.

Anyway, If it were me I'd go with today's estimate of what it would cost to replace the parts that I feel are no longer serviceable due to the accident, submit it, and then go from there and see what their insurance company says. If they want to settle for something less and thats aceptable to you then fine. If not then follow the legal trail.

Uh.....I was displaced from my home for 2 weeks and lost 2/3 of my valuables and somehow you manage to think that "you let yourself get screwed over" Whatever happened to making things right? It should have been taken care of without a fight don't you suppose? Do you really think that a sewage spill is worse than insulation, Captain Obvious?

Hmm...I don't know how you managed to get yourself into that as far as the sewage(sp?) thing goes. I remember my parents awhile back had a piping incident(or whatever you want to call it). Anyways, some new pipes were installed in our house and something was wrong with one of them. Went to turn on hose in front of house and the pipe BLEW out of the wall almost taking my head off.

Gave insurance company information, they came and checked it out. All payments covered for repair.

2 weeks later, rear hose blew out of wall on my mom and another pipe bursts in the basement coming out of the ceiling(seriously...it was just..messed up). Insurance covered all fees again and THEN SOME(got a few extra hundred out of it I believe).

And here I thought Insurance companies were on our side...Never had a problem with 'em.

Not even sure if that relates, just my personal experience with them...

As far as the OP's situation. I really think it would be best just to replace most everything in that office electronic wise. Electronics and anything in their circuits just doesn't work very well. I dont' care how much you get it cleaned out. PC Parts are really picky. Get a quote on that PC and at least get a reimbursement for its value. Better safe than sorry.

Your monitor is the same. If any of that got in behind the screen or anything your looking at damage to that too. Not like LCD's some with their own personal fans or anything like that...ya know what i mean?

just saw this on pics!? and wow, that is insane. At first i thought it was snow, but it didnt look right so I clicked to this thread. Im surprised you have enough composure to take pix and write about it. Id be so pissed off if that happened to me.

Definately consider everything that needs to be replaced - carpet, air filters, computers, general property that might be taken for granted etc.

But you may want to ask them for at least partial damage on some of your components, since sometimes you won't see some of the damage until much later in the system's life, and would get screwed out of it, if you don't file the claims right now.

Holy crap

Yeah, I concur with the weirdest death of the year award. Also with the double up prices on the insurance costs. Or at least add some to cover depreciation.

Jesus man, that must have pissed you off something rotten.. Is that a 7800, or am I going blind/stupid?

Let this be an object lesson to the readers of this thread. You should have the temp limits set in your hardware monitor program and/or in the BIOS. Because one never knows.

Go and make sure RIGHT NOW!

they better pay some professional ($) cleaners to scrub that place top to bottom. inhaling residual fiberglass fibers for the next few years would not be good. hope everything works out, man.
