The Death Gate Cycle

I finished reading this series this weekend, well written and entertaining. I wanted to keep this spoiler free, so I'll refrain from mentioning a certain character with mouse-colored robes you'd recognize if you read Dragonlance Legends & Chronicles. 😀
8.5/10 for the 7 book series as a whole. I'd give Fire Sea a 9/10

It was okay... but looking back at Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance, Deathgate Cycle, Darksword, Rose and the Prophet, and (Star Guardians? Something like that), I'd pretty much sum up all of their work as emo. Seriously, pretty angsty.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

That explains why I loved these books as a teen. 😛

Oh, and Zifnab/Fizban FTW!

I couldn't get through the first book of Death Gate cycle. It bored me. But I've read almost all the other Weis/Hickman series.

I just started reading "Dragons of the Dwarven Depths - The Lost Chronicles Volume 1". It is an excellent read so far. It's the latest of the DragonLance saga and it basically takes place with the Companions in the years before the War of the Lance. So far I think it may be as good as the original Chronicles and the Legends saga.

BTW... did anyone really, reallly dislike the War of Souls saga besides me?

Preludes/Meetings Sextet covered the Pre WotL adequately I thought...

And Yes.

Really, they tried to kill off the world for 3e, and ended up having to scramble with some "plausible" (it's fantasy, I know anything's possible, but come on, Takhisis stole the world? Really...)

The characters were good and as developed as they could have been i thought.. but it seemed as if they used the previous trilogy formula, trying to recapture whatever it was that enabled Chronicles/Legends to be as good as they were...

Still, fun books to read every now and again, though i think I stopped collecting after the Chaos War

Ontopic, I really enjoyed the Death Gate and Darksword series when I read them...

Same writing style, but unfamiliar settings... like having your best friend with you when you go travelling..

Mistake. The first book is pretty boring until the end, but the series gets very good after that. I loved the Death Gate Cycle.
