The Daylight Saving change: no savings, no point..Published: April 03, 2007

So while the US government pats itself on the back for at least looking busy, know that the main goal?energy conservation?has not been met. We can still argue over other supposed benefits, like the supposed reduction in crime (which returns in November?) and the fact that many people seem to simply like the change. As far as the purpose of the move is concerned, that appears to be a total flop.

was it because now people had to turn on the lights in the morning because we were waking up in darkness?

Hahaha.. GOOD! I hope they leave the whole thing alone now since my alarm clock can only automatically adjust for daylight savings on the default date.

It's meaningless; a lot of other countries don't do this anymore because they realized it's useles.

I just feel sorry for all the IT people who had to deal with the whole DST changes.

Yeah, one of our guys had to spend a bit of time on it, and logged on at ~2AM to check.

..but the enviro-alarmists love it.

Regardless of whether or not it result in any energy savings, I'm enjoying daylight later into the evening.

Personally I like the change; more time for golf after work🙂

so why not have that as the permanent time?

it's not natural to flip flop on it. Leave the time alone.

I do too. I can actually get stuff done after work, like mowing the lawn and whatnot.

I think the cost of the change was too much due to all of the computer-related work that had to be done, but I hope they do not change it back because all of that work would need to be done again. 😉

If continuously moving through timezones isn't enough.

I say we abolish time zones and there is one time - GMT.

That would make things so much easier.
