If only those fuckers would simply come up with an original idea instead of remaking a movie they stand absolutely no chance of besting or even doing justice too these days. The talent in Hollywood has been gone for quite some time.

Haha wow, what a great original movie. I have a feeling the remake is gonna suck...

I can hardly wait for "Rendevous with Rama." That might be a GOOD movie...if they stay pretty close to Clarke's original novel.

klaatu's character seems different. Instead of more of a teacher/imposing figure, he's just some messenger?

And only a split second shot of gort?

I have a feeling his role may stay the same, based on the last line he delivers.... this is just the style of new trailers. First trailers show like nothing in comparison to later trailers. Happened with Hancock recently... showed him as a bum screwing around for the most part for the first few trailers, and the most recent tv clips and trailer all show more of the meat of the movie.

The page at Apple.com seems to be very broken...? I can play anything else on the site, but no video ever pops up for this one.

It's also labeled as having an HD trailer on their front page, but there isn't one.

Had no idea they were making it into a movie. That'd be pretty sweet. I might have to go back and reread it now.

it's not that talent is gone... because personally, I think movies can be even better these days than the days of old. HOWEVER... the people that get behind remakes tend to not be the highest talent for who knows what reason.

Personally, the remade War of the Worlds was better than the original in my book. There are a few differences, but I preferred the new one more.
But I'd agree, most remakes are worse than the original. But the best of hollywood tend to make the movies I'd deem original, and they seem to stay away from remakes. Maybe there's a reason for that... remaking old concepts is kind of boring when you think about it, on the creativity side of things. And that's also probably the reason no remake tends to stay the same, they like to modernize things and change the plot a little bit, so they can at least either update it to modern social commentary, or at least make it stand about and be original, even though its a remake... hard to do, and at the same time please the fans of the original... which might be impossible, because when you change things, you piss off the fans of the original. But if they watched the remake, what were they expecting? Every line to be the same, and every event unchanged? Then why even go see a remake? Why MAKE the remake if its not going to be any different? You have to have creative differences or else remaking it is pointless in my opinion. Remakes at the ultimate catch-22 it seems. Best to not even have them, but sometimes Hollywood seems to be down on their creative thinking. But only parts of hollywood. Other parts still give us excellent new movies. :)
