The day the dually died.

Well I came home the other night to find my dually blue screened. Restarted, restarted in safemode, booted to WinXP cd, and all resulted in blue screens. It appears that my motherboard has gone flakey but I'll take it into work tomorrow to find out for sure. I swapped boards with a single processor board I have and it posts (which the dually does too) but I didn't check it out any further.

I'm not sure if the board is warrenty-able or not but I'll probably give it a try. Anyone have a dually board for two Athlon XP 1800's they want to get rid of if it is bad?

Needless to say my production is going to suffer big time for a while.🙁

... and with further apologies to Don McLean --

A long, long time ago I can still remember how that dual-cpu used to make me smile and I knew if I had my chance that I could make those muons dance and maybe they'd be happy for a while but February made me shiver with every Workunit I delivered, bad news on the door step, I couldn't take one more step, I can't remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride but something touched me deep inside, the day, the dually, died. So...

CHORUS
Bye, bye Miss American Pie drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry an them good ol' boys were drinkin whiskey and rye singin this will be the day that I die, this will be the day that I die.

Very good! you caught me off guard on that one, I found myself reading it sort of like the song, before it came to me 🙂

anyone else tear up reading this?!? simply beautiful!

Well, just got delivered a new cpu-fan so my mp1600+ should be fully up and running again in a couple of hours. 🙂

Sorry for your loss, and hopefully it's as easy to fix.

Dan you are the man! That was awesome!🙂

Good news everyone, the dually will live again tomorrow. Turns out the Enermax 330W PS just won't kick out enough juice anymore. Frankly I'm surprised it delivered enough power to begin with. I'll pick up a new 580W PS at work tomorrow and be running again by tomorrow night. WOOT!

Ok now I'm really confused. System wouldn't work so I hooked it to my brothers power supply and it worked fine. Decided for kicks I'd hook it back up to my power supply and now it is woking fine with mine.😕 Oh well, I was looking for an excuse to get a new power supply but now I guess I don't have one anymore.

Congrats on the resurrection! That's some crazy voodoo! (maybe time for DanC to work on Screamin Jay Hawkins' "I put a spell on you"?)
