Demo's available on Steam now. Full game available on Feb 10th.

What a great great game! I played the first The Darkness on X360 and enjoyed it tremendously (didn't come out on PC).

You can do so many things with the demon arms! Grab things for protection, rip stuff to pieces, grab and execute enemies and it all looks so intense! The art style is really nice (though different than in the first game), voices are really really great (Mike Patton is back as The Darkness!), dual wielding is back to (so that's two demon arms and two guns :awe🙂. Guns feel great and the atmosphere is amazing.

Also, 10% off on GetGamesGo (http://getgamesgo.com/product/the-darkness-ii), game is Steamworks so you can add it to your library once you get the key!

Highly recommended - if anything, try the demo.

PS. Plays great with an X360 gamepad 😀

Sweet, glad to see a demo. I played the first one just a little bit on the 360 and liked what I played. I shelved it because there were a lot of other games out that I wanted to play more, and I just never got back to it.

You missed quite a ride 🙂 There's still time to play it if you still have it (though the game is a bit lengthy if my memory serves me right).

TDII demo is really nice, shows some basic parts of the game. Really worth a try! Not too big either at 1.6GB. You get to see the power The Darkness gives :awe:

Demo is good, did its job of making me want it. You have a decent amount of combat and upgrade options which should be able to keep it fresh and not get too repetitive. Textures don't look the greatest, but the style is done well and the voice acting is solid.

Yep. Demo sealed the deal for me. Bought it on GGG with the -10% off.

I'm in the same boat with everyone else. At first this game was on my "meh" list, but then I played the demo, and it immediately went onto my "holy shit this is pretty awesome" list.

That said, I think I'll still wait until it drops in price. I'm looking for The Darkness I right now but it doesn't seem to be available for PC. 🙁

Nope, first never made it to PC

DAMNIT. I was totally looking forward to this one but not one of the TV commercials showed the tentacle crap 🙁. Wish they'd make more games with cell shading like this one though, looks good.

😵 That's the whole point of the game, the "tentacle crap". Your character is host for The Darkness. Tried the demo I presume and didn't like it?

Anyway, not many games in this art style - Borderlands was the last one I liked. I also remember Darkspore (I think) and Prince of Persia (the re-imagined one - enjoyed that one a lot!). Blade Kitten too.

EDIT: Forgot about that Amazon deal, but it's US only 😛

Without the "tentacle crap" it'd be just another linear FPS like so many others. Is that what you really wanted? You still have hundreds of other choices if so.

Releases today. I got mine via Amazon, but it activated on steam. What's nice is it was a fairly quick download because it looks like it used the data I already downloaded for the demo as the demo is now missing from my list.

Anyway game is fairly solid. The framerate slows down in odd places but I didn't have any issues during fire fights. I'm torn between a controller and mouse... the mouse is obviously my choice for shooters but because this has more buttons being used than just shooting I find it a little better to use a controller. Plus the Darkness controls on the controller are very well done.

Nope haven't tried the demo I'll definitely give it a shot, tentacles looked a little corny that's all. The TV commercials make it look great though. Hopefully the blood and gore balance it out 😀 I gave up on prince of Persia after the sands of time, just got WAY to dark for my taste, thanks for the recommendations though I'll check those out. I think Jet Set Future for the Dream Cast and Boarderlands are the only two cell shaded games I ever recall playing.

Oh man, I totally loved the comic. I should check this game out. I never even knew of the first Darkness game. Too many games, not enough time!!

It was awesome. I will admit, it's a pretty short game but the voice acting and everything was great. I didn't play the first one but the story was actually really good and how the game progressed wasn't in the direction I thought it was going.

Whether it's worth 50 bucks or not is hard to say, but definitely get it at some point.

GMG has it 33% off for $33.49. You have to use a code on the front page. Part of their Half-Term Horror promotion.
