Too bad that guy's company isn't giving him the blu-ray version for his bonus.

Thats kinda what I thought when it first came out.
Blu-ray will die before regular DVD.
One day we'll have something better and cheaper and it won't be under Sony's iron fist.

Having said that, I just remembered I need to haul my happy ass over to Hollywood Video in between classes and pick it up. I wont say I've been dying to see it, but I am curious.

Looks awesome? Don't tell anyone at AVSforum... they're in full Simpson's Comic-Guy mode and hating the movie because it's apparently got one of the worst transfer known to man. Of course, most people don't spend hours studying screenshots looking for "edge enhancement" or "digital noise reduction" and thus won't care.

Having AVSF analyze something like that is very beneficial, even if it's not something you'd notice. It keeps us informed and keeps the studios on their toes. I mean if you are going to pay $$$ for all these features that you probably can't see, you might as well get them.

They have a right to be upset. Looks like Warner goofed the transfer and Nolan's idiotic idea of having multiple aspect ratios as well as cropping the IMAX footage.

there is so much sadistic violence, but it all seems pointless...
30 mins in and you will be waiting for it to just end already.

people rave about Heath Ledger's performance, but it isn't all that. in fact, the way he wobbles his lips/ tongue, and the ridiculous voice he adopts, are SO annoying you'll want to fast forward any scenes he is in...
(Ledger's body language as the Joker reminds me of Christian Slater playing JD in Heathers - another sociopathic character who wants to kill people to make a point, but Heathers had so much wit and charm whereas there is no wit or charm in Dark Knight)

I would just like to point out that this opinion is actually wrong.

theres no suppose to be any charm in dark knight, its a superhero movie  and heath ledger's character is suppose to have a ridiculous voice and mannerisms, he's the Joker.

someone please return this guy's childhood, he's clearly missed out on decades of batman cartoons and comics.

I have to agree the movie was overrated, I'm going to watch it again in the comfort of my own home to see if that helps but I dunno. Still pissed about the unnecessary addition of Two-Face (after Batman & Robin and Spidey 3 no superhero movie should ever be allowed >1 bad guy) and the extremely bs cell phone radar thing.

Oh, and I ordered it this morning with a $15% off deal for the Blu-ray. Unfortunately, I'll be watching the "Digital" version cause I don't like watching movies full-time, straight through... gotta browse and watch. That and my monitor will only do 720p through component:(.

While I was watching TBBT and HIMYM on OTA HD last night, they had a Dark Knight commercial and it looked pretty darned good (showed scenes from the movie, obviously). Ordered it on Amazon this mornin'.

Nope, it's phenomenally overrated. It has splodies and charisma, and that's about it. Mostly wooden acting, Jerry Springer with a slide rule mentality, a completely useless and embarrassing last quarter of the movie, and plot holes measured in kilometers. There were some "good" parts, yes, but overall it's just a well-polished hybrid of soap opera and robot ninja flick. They did do a pretty good job of making a lowest common denominator movie look something like art...I give them that, if tricking people is something to be praised. I can't remember the last time I've watched a movie so utterly amoral and soulless.
