Exactly, I think that's why I enjoy this film so much more, you have to admit Anderson has characters no other writer/director could come up with. This one ranks up there with Tenenbaums in my book.Originally posted by: Platypus
I still like TLA more but they're vastly different films.
TLA is more plot driven with character development as a bonus and this film is much more character driven where the whole point of the film is character evolution and the settings/plot are really just there to further that.
I loved this film though, it's probably my 3rd favorite of his now.
what about bottle rocket? i love all of his movies except TLA.Originally posted by: Platypus
Yeah for sure
I think Rushmore is still my favorite of his with TLA in second and this taking over Tenebaums for third.
Bottle Rocket definitely isn't his style as we know it, but I like it just for being humorous in a more traditional way. Plus Kumar gets the most lines out of any of Anderson's movies I think...Originally posted by: Platypus
I really don't care for Bottle Rocket at all.
He really hadn't come into his style yet and it just kind of went nowhere in my opinion. Rushmore was the first time where he really blew me away.
lol, I just came back to the computer to download it.Originally posted by: Platypus
Either of you guys who have seen it, did you watch Hotel Chevalier?
Fantastic use of color... just amazing... the last few minutes of it make the end of Darjeeling and put a lot of prespective on Schwartzman's character.

This movie had no plot nor was it coherent. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Dialogue wasn't even funny. Owen Wilson's acting was horrendous.

I thought that it was horrible. After TLA and this, I'll be more hesitant to watch Wes Anderson's next film.
To me, it had little plot, little character development, little anything. It was devoid of substance.

Good, not great IMO. I find Wes Anderson's movies a little too affected and cutesy for my taste. Rushmore was the only one I really loved.
