The Da Vinci Code... Not So Original?

I am sitting here formatting a computer watching some old movie on Sci-Fi called Revelation, at the beginning i recognized one of the actors from the head vampire in Blade 1 so i continued to watch... As the story has progressed it has become more and more like the Da Vinci Code!!! The man and the woman running around being chased by the "Order" tryign to find some hidden lost relic that can grant piower? the knights templar, his dad being killed, the pentagram, V S, etc etc and the movie isn't even over yet.
i decided to search the movie on google and ended up at amazon reading the reviews and almsot every review mentions the Da Vinci Code though it seems this came out RIGHT before the book by Dan Brown did.
I LOVED the book and can't wait tillt he movie comes out but now i feel like the whole thing has been cheapened a little.

i thought everyone knew that Da Vinci Code wasn't very original. it was all based on themes that had been around for centuries.

it was a decent read tho, not great, just decent.

They rip off anything that's trendy and make it into a cheap movie. Did you see Sci-Fi's version of War of the Worlds? How about that D&D movie when the Harry Potter Goblet of Fire movie was out?

They know how to cash in on what's popular.

The book Da Vinci Code was a nice read but its ending was one of the worse possible ever (in terms of interest). Dan Brown (the author) is not a genius, he simply was in the right place and in the right time, as mentioned before, there are many similar pieces to that book, non of which was very original, and either could have made it big.

this movie wasn't a made for sci fi movie, it came out in 2002 in theatres? perhaps a small release or something and they were just airing it

i know the ideas in Da Vinci Code weren't original he took those beliefs and put it together along with a story but i do think it was done well. Just the fact that this movie played out 3/4 of the way through very similar to the book and the books actual story and not just the beliefs was amazing
