Its early 640am pst, I woke up for shopping and can't go back to sleep.

Anyhow, I know its old but why is Sophie the end of the line? If mary had a daughter and it carried the line why can't sophie have a kid?

I just read the book for the first time this week. So here is my review:

Dumb.

I could wax poetic on the idiocy of the book but why bother, Dan Brown already made his millions and the world is a dumber place for it.

If he made millions off the movie then maybe it wasn't so dumb after all.

By the time I had read the first couple chapters my thought was that Brown had written the book as a joke. Then I talked to other folks who said that his other books are just as bad.

I'm on my 4th Dan Brown book. I just want to read them to say I've read them. Angels & Demons was better, but so far Deception Point is decent (300+ pages in). Digital Fortress was just plain meh. Da Vinci... pretty decent I guess.

If you wouldn't mind... I am compiling a reading list right now. I would love it if you recommended me 1 or 2 books, any genre.

I am reading In Cold Blood, which is very well written. I am planning to read The Kite Runner next.

And your point is? Does a book have to have 50 page chapters to be good enough for you?

The Book of the New Sun series - Gene Wolf
The Shadow of the Torturer is the first book in the series

The Black Company books - Glen Cook

Robert Holdstock's Mythigo Wood series is pretty good.

The Priory of Sion is all about honoring the female. Sophie was the last woman in the line.

Saffron Burrows should have played Sophie IMHO.

I actually figure that Dan Brown is a spiritual descendant of the guy who wrote the Hardy Boys books. Same style, same book layout, same quality of writing.

Yes, it was a popular book. Titantic was a popular movie too. Generally there's wisdom in crowds, but this isn't one of those instances. Absolutely terrible book.

Here is my synopsis:

!!!! SPOILER WARNING !!!!!

Look, we're trapped again.
Oh no, we're screwed.
Wait, another clue just fell out of my, you know.
Great, now I'll just do something obvious to get us out of this mess.
Drive faster!
Look a safe place!
Hurray! Allow me to move the plot along through another just-so-story monologue featuring the phrase "the sacred feminine" awkwardly inserted into an otherwise silly historical mashup.
Nice monologue, you're so smart.
Look, we're trapped again...

Repeat every two chapters until the grand finale <drum roll> the butler did it. The end.

Da Vinci is fiction based on popular interest in the truth behind some of this.

It's a rabbit hole though, looking into this will require you questioning everything and knowing the only way you can change anything is futile.
