The curse of socket A - please help me make it work!

What is it im missing here? This socket A rig ive put together just wont work. The other week i had an MSI K7D master and a single athlon xp, it didnt post, then the core fell off the xp chip, so i got a single sempron, it posted but gave me a bios error, eventually flashing to the latest bios, i get the same blank screen i got with the athlon xp. But now i got a Gigabyte GA-7N400S(-L) K7 triton mobo and the same sempron, still... blank screen. It dosent try to access the hdd and the chip/graphics card DID work before as i said i managed to flash the bios of the K7D. So... what is it? Socket A sempron are simply not very compatible? Ive missed somthing real important? Please help, im at the end of my tether with this socket A garbage... :frown:

Mobo: GA-7N400S(-L)
Gcard: Geforce 2 MX400 32MB
HDD: Seagate 80GB 5400RPM 2mb cache
CPU: Sempron 2500+ 333FSB socket A
PSU: Seasonic SS-300GS 330w
Memory: 1 stick 1GB PC2700 DDR

Should i get an athlon Xp and see if it works with that? Send the sempron back?

Well the motherboard certainly supports that cpu so i'd say it's a dud. Just get RMA for a replacement.

Damn, your probably right, just wish i had another socket A cpu to test, but i really doubt the semprons gone and died overnight for no reason.

Hate gigabyte so much right now....
