The cure for which disease would make you the most money?

What do you guys say? Life threatening and relatively expensive, or very common and cheap?

I figure you could probably clean up pretty good if you had a proven cure for the common cold.

cancer

you can pretty much avoid aids with a lot of common sense

people would be willing to pay a lot more for a cure for cancer over the cold though some might pay millions of dollars

and cancer is prolific enough that there will always be "customers"

yeap i have to agree with this

Yeah, but I figure that only a certain percentage of the population gets cancer, and even then they only get it once (probably). EVERYONE gets the cold, and they get it many times over their life. I guess a cure would fix that, but still... you could clean up in the mean time.

not really a "disease," but if there was a pill to take so you dont have to corrective lenses, then that would be a killer...

isn't there a cure called LASIK?

sure it has some side effects but about as good as any cure i've ever seen

as much as I would like to vote for diabetes, it only affects 1.5 million people. Cancer is where the money is.

I'd say its a close one between the common cold and cancer. Cancer is pretty common and you can also charge people with it an assload (from a strictly pragmatic standpoint). Common cold on the other hand is much more widespread however it seems like 1) people might not buy the cure because it isn't that serious (so the price would have to be cheap) and also I'm inclined to think that there would be a more steady stream of people getting cancer vs people getting the common cold after being cured. Since cancer occurs for a wide variety of reason ranging from radiation to random mutation whereas the common cold doesn't spawn from within people and hence its sustainability after a cure would be dependent on mutations of the viral strain itself.

you have to consider that many people would forego the cold cure and just live with it

i mean i can function at about 80-85% with a cold as long as i am not doing something that is prettty physically intensive i am pretty much fine

i never take anything when i get a cold normally

rarely when i get headaches or the flu for that matter so i would probably go through my entire life ever purchasing a cold cure

the flu i would definitely consider though
