for too long we have been shackled
while our captors have cackled
and beaten us with whips
licked us with the lips
of their vicious cruelty
like animals we are caged
while the demons rage
and rip us to pieces
page by page
we can send up a prayer
but will the angels care?
is there anyone who can save us
grace us
thrust us past the fulcrum
of injustice which besets us?
i would say that it is all up to you
but in truth, there is nothing you can do
besides cower in fear
in darkness
in terror
waiting for your end to finally appear
or hope to have one moment of brilliance
carry through with what you know what to do
with diligence
