the crossfire paradox

when I played BLOPS for many hours..the gameplay is sweet but I wasn't getting the expected performance I would like it to be 🙁

with CFX on 8AA/all max (both 10.10d/11.2 drivers w/ CAP3). both of my gpus barely go over 50% and jumps up and down in performance. Min fps dips well below 35FPS sometimes. With CFX disabled, it got marginally better but the same performance as with CFX enabled.

After reading alot of info online (yes the internet) BLOPs seems to hate double GPU solutions..

Then I start tinkering the ATi settings, instead using application settings, I up the AA by 24X AF max (8x edge detec) and holy S***, both of the GPUs are being used ! And I'm getting smooth gameplay hovering 100+ fps, minimums are well above 60 FPS, ultra smooth 😱

for some reason..the more AA (by CCC), it just got better 😵

I can agree with this, although I am not running my 6870's in Crossfire at the moment, I do however get better performance with 8AA + Edge Detect over 4AA.

BLOPs is extremly poorly coded on the PC and has dated graphics, it's actually a known fact that in some cases INCREASING settings therefore forcing the GPU(s) to work harder will improve FPS in that game.

1) a lot is two words.

2) My dual gpu solution works fine for BLOPs but I run 5760x1200.

3) Sounds like a driver issue..
