I don't have a laptop or any kind of portable video player. I have a business trip coming up in a few weeks that I don't want to approach without something <shudder>

Why is the W so much cheaper than the regular model? Is that just because of the standard price discount that wide screen lcd's get over regular LCD's?

Update: A few of us got in on the Best Buy deal... $250+tax w/ free shipping. Details about the device are scattered through out the thread. I'm typing while listening to mine now :)

Good reference

the bigger connector to the right looks like an ipod connector. This takes an ipod connector? If so, I can get this for my gf instead of the ipod video. I was only looking at the ipod vid cuz she needs for it to connect to her Alpine headunit's ipod connector

Interesting, I hadn't noticed that.

The manual calls it a "Docking connector" and says "Connects to a docking station (available separately)."

Zune: 3-inch QVGA LCD screen, with a resolution of 320×240

Zen W: 4.3" High Resolution Color Screen at 480 x 272 pixels

The Zen is the same resolution and size as the PSP. I was really really really impressed with the PSP screen.

I meant it as two separate statements. :D

To clarify, for the size and aspect ratio of the zen, I expected just a slightly higher rez, maybe 640x360.

That, and I'd wait for the zune just to see how everyday operations compare to the zen, like actual battery life, ease of file transfering and such.

It'll hold up to 6 seasons of most shows at a time. Have you thought about how many charge/recharge cycles that is? If you were ever on a trip that long, you'd have a PC with you to sync with. 30 gigs is plenty for me.

I see. If you've ever seen a PSP, you'd see why the res isn't that big of a deal. This screen is almost identical in spec to the PSP and the PSP is showstoppingly beautiful.

id buy one of those

Couldn't agree more. I got the Zen Vision:M and absolutely love the thing. Excellent audio quality, great little screen! Although I recommend a headphone upgrade... I got these and wow... what a difference. Comfortable, excellent sound isolation, and $250 cheaper than the Shure E5C's... :)

That Zune does look pretty sweet though.

Give us a review qith live pics. I just may ditch my Vision:m for this bad boy.

I'll be a really bad reviewer as the last piece of portable electronics I bought was a Sony mp3 cd player, but I'll definitely try :)

I remember seeing a bunch on google....

I am jealous :( :D I absolutely love my Vision: M You simply can't underestimate the beauty of having a drag and drop PMP with a native support for most every popular video/audio codec.

CF card support should make it popular with digital photographers.

That was enough to convince my wife it was a good purchase. :)

Hey, does anyone know where to buy a spare battery for this thing?
