The crazy free flat panel

Hello. I got a flat panel monitor for free that is causing issues (imagine that). It is a HP vs17e 17 inch flat panel. When I hook it up to the old Dell computer the bios and the desktop are off to the left about two inches. When I hook it to the computer it originally was with (or so I think) the bios comes up to the right about two inches. But the desktop comes up centered. I am sure a driver update on the dell might fix it but I am curious as to the bios being off center on both computers. When I hooked these up to a working Acer 17 inch flat panel this issue never even comes up. Fixing this isn't an issue per se but would like to know why the bios on both computers comes up off center on this monitor. Thanks for your time.

Often times these panels will have an automatic adjustment setting, you might want to reset it...

Yeah tried that and it doesn't respond. May take the thing apart and see if i can reset the buttons. But what weirds me out so to speak is that it corrects itself on one computer after the bios and on the other it doesnt. Doesn't make sense to me that the bios itself would be off center. And only on this monitor.

For some reason the BIOS video timings are just off. Mine is off-center by two lines of text.

On both computers with only this monitor? I am sure you missed that this issue doesnt happen with another 17 inch monitor. Well I plan to take it apart today and see if i can get the buttons to work somehow. maybe i can fix the issue altogether who knows.

Ok good to drop this thread due to the fact its a typical HP product. Didn't do anything to the monitor and suddenly all the buttons work except the power button. Will keep it for an extra monitor till it blows up.
