the crappening

With the frustration of thread after thread being destroyed, I wonder how hard would it be to make 'invite only' threads? I certainly understand that there is a post-report function for things like this, but very often it's such a gradual crappening that there really is no one post that is reportable. By the time you realize it, it's already crappened.
Anyway, food for thought. Pros/cons anyone?

I like this concept, but make it opt-out instead of opt-in, otherwise the forums would be too fragmented.

Instead, just make it so that people in a user's blacklist can't view that person's threads. I can see it now, Mayne comes back in a few weeks and his first thread is "Wtf happened to this place, almost every thread is weeks old".

But that wouldn't be a problem if threads started by that person were only invisible to those on their only ignore list, and something simple like if(user_type != MOD) in the rule could make sure that mods can always see every thread anyway.

It's not that hard to stay out of trouble here.

I agree.

Once you learn who is who around here, it's easy to just ignore them or just skip over their posts. Besides, in some cases, you can read the OP and almost guess where it's going to go and by whom... and just leave it lay.

But... even a blind squirrel gets a nut now and then, you never know. That's the value of an open forum.
