The cpu fan stops when prime95 starts

When I launch prime95, the cpu fan turns off. I am running vist home premium, has anyone else had a similar problem?

vista ultimate here but never had that problem. did you install temp monitoring programs or anything like it from your mobo maker? bios setting? i doubt its vista.

I installed speedfan, would that cause this problem?

Also, the fan just stopped now without prime95. I will uninstall speedfan and see if that fixes anything.

Better check that fan out carefully if the problem is not caused by Speedfan.

Your fan is controlled by your BIOS. It will only be controlled by SpeedFan if you have SpeedFan setup to do that. Just uncheck automatic fan speed (in SpeedFan) to let your BIOS handle the speed of the fan.
