I think you can just run it off an USB key, copying the install folder should be enough. But, it does install Java VM which can't be copied on to a USB key, you'd have to copy a Java VM install file with it..
Good luck!!

Dasm Java VM.... ;-)

Then I will just have run it at the machine @ home. I could run it here at work as well, if not
for the installation. They don't mind me running DC, as long as I don't mess up the workstations... 🙂

Therefore I prefer CLI that don't install anything, but just runs clean from a directory of choice.

Thanks a lot for your help anyway... for ya

There is a version without JVM but I don't know how it works. I'm sure one of the other guys will be around with better info than I have on it.

I'll keep my eyes open for any help/news...

Hi,
First i want to make an excuse if I made the impression to come here and to brag. It was my sincere intention to shake you up, which also happened, although not the way I had in mind.
Within DPC, there's a lot of (friendly) competition between us and we tease and challenge each other all the time. Maybe i shouldn't have done it here.

@MechEng: The client need in all cases JVM (Java Virtual Machine), the give you the option not to download, in case you already have one installed on your machine (same or different version).

The "CLI" of "file" or "gui" is just the way how it interact with the user.
You should also download DSpy a tiny tool that can monitor your client without using the (gui)agent

It's a refreshing idea to run from usb stick, only i'm wondering what the performance is, since it's a bit disk intensive.

Welcome here at the TeAm, and thanks for the info.. 🙂

Normally I don't run it from the USB stick.. I copy the folder to the temp directory or some other dir, and then run it from there. When I'm finished at the pc I copy the files back to the USB stick.

Hi Purplebear
I think we should thank you for the wakeup call! I hope we can keep things interesting for your DPC teammates and yourself
🙂

You have to do 2 installs in two different folders for HT processors if you want to use 100 percent of your cpu

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton
Zalman CNPS7000a-AlCu
Shuttle AN35N Ultra
1024 MB PC3200 RAM
BFG Technologies Geforce FX 5900
Windows XP Pro SP1
Cheiftec Aluminum Dragon
Western Digital 60 GB HD
Western Digital 80 GB HD SE

Is that good?

If you are running it on that Barton 3200xp 24/7 with no other DC projects running it should be able to do at least a 100 a day.
The Dspy program PurpleBear linked to in his post about is a great way to monitor the D2OL program .

I don't leave my PC on 24/7. Around 10 hours a day on weekdays, and like 15 on weekends. So I guess I'm doing about right?

When I look at your stats on Geoff's d2ol stats page I see 5 hr, 10 min, 30 sec total docking time which means your about right on .

Things are about to get interesting for Cold Fusion over on TSC as 40oz is starting back up with all guns for TNT over there .
