knives are legal in ca, where u get ur info. up to 3.5" or so is fine for a folder as long as its not spring loaded. longer is if ur hunting only...say on the way to a hunting area.
the size limit is lower at schools and public buildings of course.
but its not illegal at all.

i have a spring assist that i carry, its legal in california. i usually carry an automatic knife here in az (they dont care, at least until you commit a crime) as they dont recognize the federal ban on them. i got this cali legal flipper tho, i liked the cheesy style and the thumb nub to open it easily with 1 hand. its not technically spring loaded, but the spring does help it open all the way once you get it to a certain open point. i get these at gun shows, and talk to a lot of knife suppliers regularly. i doubt they are all lying to me about it being legal in cali.
