The Counsel of Nef calls to the attention of the public on a matter of concern.

The counsel of Nef is not pleased with one of its member actions. This aforementioned member posted the latest Top Gear video, a ATOT Exclusive on to the Suprnova BT Network.

The counsel has called for a motion to ban zimu and any other member from posting ATOT exclusive files, on to other networks and sites unless given the exclusive permission to do so.

This request for motion was seconded by Confused.

It is now been taken to the member pool for a vote of confidence.

Remember the Counsel of Nef has all rights to veto the results into their favor.

This was done for ATOT members by ATOT members. The hard work by the member 'freegeeks' cannot be negated by one individual who feels the law does not apply to him. This can be shared, only if other will share and since other networks are beyond our control and do not live by the ATOT ideology they will be outside our network. For the moment an exclusive 48hr zone for ATOT members will exist anytime an ATOT exclusive video file or file is posted. However members can vote on the length of time.

Any actions by members who break this rule, will face consequences put down by the Mean Moderators.

Top Gear has been gaining slow but steady fan base on this site. It is necessary that we do whatever is needed to keep what is ours ours. Sharing is good only after we have reaped the benefits first.

All members will abide by the rules hence setforth by public opinion.

I'm not sure I understand the motivation behind limiting the torrent to ATOT members only - if the concern is to have ATOT members get the file quicker, the best way is to distribute the torrent as much as possible, get as many people on it as possible. I think that's the best and fastest way to share a file, the more people on it the better. Of course, in the very beginning, it'll hurt the seed but once a few people has it, it'll pick up.

we arent calling the video a property of ATOT. The video is owned by the original makers, which would be BBC in this case. However the issue is that the guy who puts his hard work to share among his community to view it first, ends up being a global thing.

We do intend to share with teh world, only after its been shared among the users here.

The problem is this morning.. we had 2 seeds feeding 275 downloads. It went to 13 seeds at 396 users..

that isnt right... how can you say the more users the better it works.. However those seeds initially were all ATOT.. they were meant for ATOT first. The rest of the world will get it eventually.. There are plenty of places where they can get it from. However since it was encoded by an ATOT member, i would think we would get to see it first.

More over i wonder how many of those ppl sharing / seeding are ATOT members. The problem with BT.. ppl leeech and then dont keep it running. We ATOT members could all stop seeding and it will die soon enough. Most of that which is out there, is coming from ATOT members.

This morning members here were getting 3kb/s .. after all it was encoded by one of our own. He spent his time doing a favor for us. It should not be forgotten he can easily not do this for us.. or he can leave the rest in teh dark.

13 seeds for 396 downloaders is a better ratio than 2 seeds for 275 downloaders. Posting on large public sites may initially result in a bit of lag, but the overall swarm speed will ramp up faster. That is what makes BT work.

I'm agreeing with the issue here. I started seeding the full file for other members of atot. I don't mind sharing the file later, but I'm giving priority to other members.

It shouldn't be posted anywhere for 48 hours in my opinion. Its like having a couple extra tickets to a concert. I'd rather share it with a friend then with someone I've never met/never will meet. I'll give it to them if there are some left after my friends have already gotten the choice first.
