Egads. Just got off the phone with the Dell CSR, and for 2 more years of the basic warranty, they want $250 for my Inspiron 600m. Considering within the last year I've had this laptop, I had to ship it in about 4 times already, the fourth being a mobo problem, I'm thinking that it would be best to go with it. I don't know. Has anyone else had to deal with this dilemma? Thanks.

I only see value in extended warranties on laptops. Especially Dells. 80% of any Dell laptop owner I know has had to ship it atleast once back in 6 months.

Consumer Reports recommends extended warranties on laptops & treadmills another factor. However Dell's seems pretty expensive. I thought CompUSA was expensive with their TAP but Dell certainly is also expensive.

If you paid with a credit card, try checking to see if you have some sort of automatic extended warranty. I had a problem with my laptop 3 months or so out of warranty and thought I was screwed. But I discovered that my card doubled the warranty on a lot of purchases. I ended up getting it fixed for free, but my credit card company would have reimbursed me for any repairs.
