Now, a i7-920 isn't excessively expensive, it's got roughly the same price as the similar-clocked Quad Q9400.
But, unfortunately you can't run the cpu on it's own, among the current breeds of mainboards the cheapest mainboard costs the same as the i7-920, and DDR3 is not cheap either...
Meaning, even a bare-bone upgrade cannibalizing gpu, hd and so on from my core2-E4400, will be roughly 8000 NOK, this should be roughly 1182 US$ or 940 ? or 751 £, atleast according to
XE currency converter
So, if no-one wants to donate...
