the coolest thing I've seen today

Excellent...something expensive and nearly useless that can make owning an ipod even more pretentious.

I'll take 3.

:Q Holy crap. That is the coolest thing I've seen in months!! Kiss my Kiva ass, Newegg!!! At Kiva (in Soviet Russia), video card comes to YOU!!!

"Each worker is supported by 5 to 10 drive units that will line up and wait in place to have product picked from them, then return to their place in the inventory."

I want this for my house. No idea WTF I'll do with it, but damn. Watch the whole video!!

As a former warehouse worker, I suddenly want to go all Office Space on one of the fork trucks I drove every night.

Well, you know, I did want to do that before, but now I could do that with a robot army to back me up.

Though that ceramic thing is nifty too, partly because I love materials in the ceramics class. 😀
But I'm afraid the "coolest thing I've seen this year award" is currently going to the robotic warehouse. That is one impressive system.

Oh, and since it hasn't been said yet: "hawt!"😉

Just to give the OP some lovin', I'll back the ceramic Gramophone. I'd rather see a historic reproduction with a fake spinning disc, but that one's still pretty cool.

FYI that video seems to be fron 2004.

I am guessing that by now they programmed-out the worker😉

🙁

I get a lot of amusement out of watching my Roomba. It's not as sophisticated, but it's still pretty smart for a dumb machine :^)

One of these days I've love to mod one of those and turn it into a lawnmower. That would be so fun. Make it solar powered and leave it on all day.

A buddy from work showed me a robotic lawnmower on Craigslist. The asking price was reasonable, and after looking it up online, it looked like a good system. I just didn't have the money at the time to buy it. Lawn mowing is one of the household chores I hate the most, and if I could get a robot to do it, life would be sweet :^)

My main issue that I hate with lawn mowing is, disposing of the grass. Mulchers make this that easier, but even then, in spots where it's very thick, or if you only can do it every 2 weeks due to non stop rain, then you end up having to bag the grass. Maybe a robot that cuts + burns the grass, and turns it into energy to keep going. Hmmm, I'm on to something here, other then a fire hazard. 😛
