XP Home, sp2, Abit IS-7 MOBO, Seagate Barracuda 80GB SATA HD. My problems continue, but I swear this is my last "SATA problem" post. The drive has XP on it, boots fine, was running fine, but slower than my storage (IDE) drive according to PCPitstop. I had been told on the Abit forum that the SATA drivers weren't necessary for SATA, only for RAID, but today I did a repair install of XP so I could get the SATA driver loaded through F6. Well, it seemed to go well, I saw the drivers load. However, I did a search of my files (none of which are hidden), and the driver files are no where to be found. I searched using both Windows search feature, and Agent Ransack. The drivers must be somewhere. Does anyone know where they would be kept? This SATA is the biggest problem I've ever had , on a computer anyway. I'm just going to run this the way it is, but would like to find those driver files. Oh, right after the install, there were shortcuts for the driver files on C:/Doc-Set/John/Temp/Recent. The shortcuts were linked to the floppy. This whole SATA thing has been a pain .
