The Confederate Flag Is,...

  • a symbol of racism.

  • a symbol of freedom.

  • a symbol that was once racist, but now no longer is.

  • I am a raging moron.

Well...you've got to admit that his Bristol Palin thread gave great insight into the true depth of his intelligence. I'm embarrassed for him...because this hack is too stupid to be embarrassed for himself.

Adorable.

You used a word to describe something you despise, yet, display hackery yourself in you very own post (bring up a thread that has nothing to do with this thread).

Guys, I'm serious, are you all together in a poorly ventilated room today? Stupid seems to have stuck all of you at the same time and in one fell swoop no less.

I'm glad Democrats are starting to understand that in order to eliminate racism, we need to eliminate those things that were started by and are symbols of racism.

We'll start with the Confederate Flag. Next up, Planned Parenthood.

Holy fuck you are an idiot!

Your radicalization over the last year has been amazing and outright scary! Seek help before you end up hurting yourself or someone else!

True, but the political correctness police are overreacting to this one. Take Apple's truly lame move of banning Civil War strategy games that use the flag in them, for example.

What's next... banning Civil War reenactments?

Agreed.

This is why I do not agree with banning.

#1 it won't do jack shit towards the actual problem.
#2 it is impossible to ban/clean everything.

Must be all the spinning the Right is notorious for - it has puréed their brains.

If you do a search for Margaret Sanger you will find that she's been a recent talking point for the right this past week. Spotting right wing talking points is akin to searching for clouds, you can find them without even trying.

The South lost, the North won. Therefore the US flies the stars and stripes and not the Confederate flag.

People are free to fly the Confederate flag. I am free to ignore it. Isn't living in a free society wonderful?

Instead of lazily caring about a silly piece of cloth, I would actively be trying to fight slavery around the world... which still exists in great fucking numbers.

Slavery even still exists here in the good ol' USA as human trafficking.

Slavery Still Exists In The US, You Just Can’t See It

Speaking of ignorance, most Americans are comfortably unaware of us having two flags: one representing a military or wartime government (which we fly) and one a peacetime or civil government.

The reason for two US flags? Flying the military flag outside of homes gave the government permission to nullify the 3rd Amendment right to not have your home used for quartering troops as an outpost.

Therefore I would reserve my ire for the reason behind why we have been in a perpetual corporate war for generations and proudly fly my civil flag. I would love to see the civil flag trending, sort of the way average Americans enjoy seeing the Kardashians trend on Twitter.

Although perhaps the US military flag still flies the US as we wage wars against our corptocracy and the loss of sovereignty. Here are the flags we currently fly above ol glory.

Wake the fuck up, you are being distracted and played by both wings of the same molting bird.

is a symbol of racism and has no place outside of a historical context (ie: in a museum, on the cover of a book discussing the Civil War, etc... NOT proudly flying on government buildings)

I wouldn't call to make it illegal, but people wearing it in public should be treated like someone wearing a Nazi flag shirt.

Amen,... to 99% of what you said.

I would not bunch the Nazis in with the Confederates though. Much like I would not lump in ISIS with the Confederates, or even ISIS with the Nazis - each has its own "degree" of evilness.

The Confederation was a traitor and a racist to this nation - but, they were not fanatical fascist zealots who murdered people en masse and set out to dominate the world through fear and hate. ISIS is the ultimate evil in humanity's history (they have murdered their own more than any other person, and children no less).

And, given the Confederation's traitorous actions, their images does not indeed have any right to be present in our modern government.

Private homes, private organizations, 3 year old birthday parties, car decals - go nuts. But, be prepared to face the consequences.

How about you just stop with the horseshit threads. The Bristol Palin thread was pure hackery and in this thread you can't even construct a poll with a reasonable range of options because your myopic dementia makes you incapable of understanding them. Pathetic.

Not only that but the US has replaced the concept of a God with political, entertainment and sporting figures. At least the thought of a God - whether real or imagined - or even a natural order, can be a calming and humbling force -- if preached in a reasonable and good manner. I don't run the place; I just live here.

The Confederate battle flag was invented so po' Southern boys would not confuse it with the North's similiar flag.
A symbol is what people make it, when a certain flag is adopted by racists then it is racist.

We are on page 3 and NOW you have a problem with the poll of this thread? Even after you responded with no initial qualms.

Did the other idiots run to you for having nothing to bash me with, so you:
1. use another thread
2. whine about this thread hours later

,.. damn. You did it again, you exhibiting behavior you are claiming you are against.

Also, place your beef with the other thread in that thread, not here, you buffoon.

I'm generally fairly patient with folks of your mentality and typically ignore most of the crap, but I just finally got tired of all your recent bullshit and chose to express it here. If you believe that makes me a hack...so be it...I'd expect as much from one with the intellect of a neanderthal.

You aren't alone. I too have read enough of his posts to know they are mostly lacking content with little value to me. It's the texted equivalent of a fart or belch. Best thing is to let your eyes glaze and move onto something more relevant that's not locked into myopia or a circle jerk. Life is too short dude.

The only people that owned slaves were the rich 1 %'ers. Plenty of people in Government in the North Owned slaves.

The funny think is I always knew this flag as the Rebel Flag which stood for rebellion against a tyrannical federal government and individual freedom. Never met a slave.

Dukes of Hazard was kind of a funny show. The little people were rebelling against the rich establishment overlords.

Just curious, how do you guys feel about miniature rebel flags being put on the graves of confederate soldiers both who died in battle and 50 years later after they were forgiven by the union for taking up arms?

7812682_G.jpg

That is the only time it should be flown on Government grounds. I have no trouble with them having the flags on the gravestones. it's no different in honoring US troops in foreign lands. It's just a show of respect and honor.

States shouldn't be flying it imo.

Agreed.

racist or not, it's certainly treasonous in its way. ..but at least we don't have a history of sending people off to prison camps for displaying it (as the Soviets did to their occupied states for 6 decades).

that being said...yes, of course it's racist. "state's rights" is probably the oldest, most hackneyed political euphemism adopted through this country's politicis.

Yes, the war was fought over "State's rights" The south seceded because of "States's rights" ....the state right to own slaves that is. Or, more directly, the right for new states to vote slavery legal, if they so wished.

call it state's rights, call it slavery, it was one single issue, and that is it. This is exactly what the flag has always represented. And I'm from the south, and this is how we were taught the southern perspective of the Civil War: "States rights" was complicated! Well, no, no it wasn't.

Slavery was actually complicated--the fact that the economy of the south was completely tied to the vile institution, that the failure to spread slavery, the threat of ending slavery would absolutely devastate those states--yes, that is complicated in its own way. Sure, it was very much an economic fear tied to slavery, more than it was a "black people are lesser people and should be slaves" (Even though, of course, that was the sentiment), but it was still only ever about slavery.

The "civil flag of peacetime" is a myth. It seems to mostly be propagated by crazy sovereign citizen websites.

I've seen this civil flag silliness before, but the "nullify the 3rd Amendment" part is new. It's interesting to witness how conspiracy theories evolve over the years.
