The Confederate Flag Is,...

  • a symbol of racism.

  • a symbol of freedom.

  • a symbol that was once racist, but now no longer is.

  • I am a raging moron.

No, it's a fact - straight from the horse's mouth. Enlighten and educate yourself; http://web.archive.org/web/20130822...tory.org/library/document/cornerstone-speech/

No need to mask the truth with bullshit accusations, dismissiveness and downplaying - it is embarrassing and quite revealing that you do indeed know this is wrong.

The Confederate flag (Northern Virginia battle flag) that is flown today wasn't the official flag of the Confederacy when Stephens wrote/gave that speech.

That's you opinion and your welcome to it. There are others who are not racist that see the flag differently.

I'm sure those people exist, the good news for them they can flaunt that flag all over their houses cars etc.

Why the F would someone want to fly that flag? It's super un american. These guys who used this flag in the 1860's were willing to leave America and fight a war and exterminate people to slave and rape and lynch people. These people were traitors to America and they lost.

Why are people honoring traitors who killed Americans? If anyone doubts me, look at the number of graves in Gettysburg or other cemeteries.

Would you rather be friends and relatives of people who like to enslave, lynch and rape?

Enough debate already. Admit it.. you're all f'ing idiots to want to be related to treason commiting war mongering raping racist enslavers.

:D Epic thread backfire.

26 v 4 (technically 2, joke option is a joke, but, you can still have it).

Also, Londo is still raging over how unimportant this is with his 5th post - he sure showed me,..

Did you both drink from the same well or something?

Just curious, how do you guys feel about miniature rebel flags being put on the graves of confederate soldiers both who died in battle and 50 years later after they were forgiven by the union for taking up arms?

Says the person who has started several threads today blathering on about things that are unimportant in the scheme of life. Continue on with your slobblering and knee jerking.

Knee jerk,.. like how you accused me of demanding the Conf. Flag be banned?

Or what about your pathetic back peddling over what the Conf. Flag stands for?

If they were forgiven then the traitors should have an American flag honoring their death. If it's on government land that is. If it's on private property then people can honor the traitors however they want.

Then it would be this option; a symbol that was once racist, but now no longer is.

Alexander H. Stephens was pretty clear - he looked down on Africans and felt it was the right of the Confederation to do with them as they please.

Well, to be fair, the guy on our penny did not view blacks as equal to whites either. While he thought that slavery should be ended for moral reasons, he also looked down on Africans. I am ok with him being on the penny, but lets not make this an all or nothing thing, because you will find that nobody from the past is clean on this issue for the most part.

Racism was a shitty thing that allowed for shitty justifications to do really shitty things.

You crack me up.
What have you taught anyone in this thread?
How to get their panties in a wad over an inanimate object?
How they should think/feel about said object?

The funny thing is this flag will be around for centuries to come and nothing you can say or do today will stop it. In fact you may find that it results in more people purchasing and displaying it.

Well...you've got to admit that his Bristol Palin thread gave great insight into the true depth of his intelligence. I'm embarrassed for him...because this hack is too stupid to be embarrassed for himself.

Again, I never said stop it. So, I am not sure why you are fluffing your dress at me with your "funny thing" point.

In regards to what people should feel or thing - the poll speaks for itself. Or, are you going to hem and haw over those figures as well?

You aren't saying ban the flag, just that it shouldn't be sold, flown, or acknowledged in any way. You never actually used the word ban, true.

Still, no, no I am not.

I never asked for it to be banned.

I am OK with people selling it, flying it, wearing it, draping it over their heads instead of this:

But, let us be clear: it is a symbol of racism, not freedom.

States shouldn't be flying it imo.

True, but the political correctness police are overreacting to this one. Take Apple's truly lame move of banning Civil War strategy games that use the flag in them, for example.

What's next... banning Civil War reenactments?
