Conservative media is built on undercutting "liberal" media and Democrats, constantly reinforcing this by saying that this is the reason why you can only listen to them because they're the only ones telling the real story.
Yesterday I flipped over to hear Erick Erickson talking about Iran building a nuclear centrifuge, saying that he's rocket scientist but it would be impossible for them to do that in 2 weeks -- more likely that Harry Potter himself built it. And so that proved that Obama lied to us because clearly he knew Iran was violating the nuclear deal all along.
I had to look this one up. Apparently Iran opened a facility to produce nuclear centrifuges which was being constructed in 2015 before the nuclear deal was signed, and that doing so did not even violate the nuclear deal. Iran is allowed to enrich uranium to a certain percentage out of a single facility using a limited number of first-generation centrifuges. So it's pretty clear that them opening the facility is to put pressure on the deal without violating it so they have better bargaining position for a new deal or with sanctions from other parties.
But if you don't know any better and trust the words that Erickson speaks as an accurate portrayal of objective events, you'd think that Iran really had built a nuclear centrifuge from scratch for the purpose of building a nuclear bomb, and it would be impossible to do that in 2 weeks, so thus Iran had to have been in violation of the deal all along. One step further is that, if so, Obama must have known about it and lied to us about it. And this is so significant a logical error, the media must be conspiring against you in favor of Liberals so you could only trust Conservative media. If you identify at all as conservative, this message hits you in the feels. It's a very powerful reinforcement. Built on complete and utter rubbish. But powerful nonetheless.
