TATA are the 56th biggest steel maker (corus is 9th btw) and they are paying £4.3 billion in this take over deal. however they are incurring £1bn in debt doing this

i dont know, but in the article 2nd biggest also bought out 1st

doesnt make sense i know, but i dont know what other fields those companies are into. TATA on the other hand make lots of other stuff, steel is just one piece of the pie

TATA is in a couple of industries: automobiles, engineering, materials (i.e., advanced materials, and steel and iron), energy, chemicals, services (e.g.: consultancy, insurance, etc), consumer products (teas, watches, publishing, etc.) and information systems and communications (infotech, telecom, ISP).

That should be all the industries TATA is involved in, but I've surely missed quite a few companies in the seperate industries.

They are big, and their most well known products, in India, are the cars, the trucks, telecom, and ISP. Outside India, there are a couple of cars being sold (two out of three or four of their models), at least in the United Kingdom. If you know what a City Rover is, it's basically a rebadged TATA.

TATA is huge in India. I was there last Xmas and saw Tata's brand on all sorts of stuff. Mainly trucks and automobiles.
