the company i work for is being bought by TATA

i work for corus steel in the UK

and this morning its been confirmed that we are now only waiting for the share holders to agree the take over by TATA steel

TATA are the 56th biggest steel maker (corus is 9th btw) and they are paying £4.3 billion in this take over deal. however they are incurring £1bn in debt doing this

i hope it all works out

i dont know, but in the article 2nd biggest also bought out 1st

doesnt make sense i know, but i dont know what other fields those companies are into. TATA on the other hand make lots of other stuff, steel is just one piece of the pie

TATA is in a couple of industries: automobiles, engineering, materials (i.e., advanced materials, and steel and iron), energy, chemicals, services (e.g.: consultancy, insurance, etc), consumer products (teas, watches, publishing, etc.) and information systems and communications (infotech, telecom, ISP).

That should be all the industries TATA is involved in, but I've surely missed quite a few companies in the seperate industries.

They are big, and their most well known products, in India, are the cars, the trucks, telecom, and ISP. Outside India, there are a couple of cars being sold (two out of three or four of their models), at least in the United Kingdom. If you know what a City Rover is, it's basically a rebadged TATA.

TATA is huge in India. I was there last Xmas and saw Tata's brand on all sorts of stuff. Mainly trucks and automobiles.
