The clueless LAN Admin

We had a couple of b!tches on our tier1 helpdesk who developed the strategy of telling the user to leave the machine off for an hour, "to let it discharge". It was most effective if it was done just before the end of their shift.

The user tried to update his SAV definitons but he got the error message "Live update could not retreive the update list". The user is constantly getting this message.

I worked with one guy that would get super detailed in his tickets. Instead of 'ckt down due to fiber cut Bahrain'. It would be like reading through a scene from a Clive Cluster book. Often times would find myself getting setup in an elaborate scenario about how a ship had a navigation problem compounded and language issues that had caused to to drag a prop across a underwater fiber cable.

Another time I was reading about a hapless deer that had gotten hit by an aircraft that took about some nav equipment. Every ticket of his was a surprise. How he drug all the details out of the people on the other end of the phone I'll never know.

When I did work here at the school, we used that software as well.

Hehe, my favorite ticket was when one of the students say someone stole her IP.
