too bad its for the UK only.

This weekend we mentioned that The Club demo was headed to the Xbox Live Marketplace "soonish" and that it would have a staggered region release. Well, we didn't have to wait long for SEGA to confirm news that tomorrow morning, January 8th, The Club demo will release to the XBLM for our friends in the UK and Australia. You read correctly. The US, Canada, Mexico and every other Live region is being left out of demo goodness for the time being, so be proud fellow UK and Aussie Live subscribers. You're getting content first for a change. W00t for you.

So, if you are in a region that the demo releases in, Bizarre already confirmed that you'll be treated to a The Club demo featuring the prison level "Escape from Newhaven", two single player game modes including Time Attack and Sprint as well as split screen multiplayer. Enjoy your demo and be sure to tell us what you think fellow UK and Aussie fanboys. You know, since we won't be able to download it and all.

Update, the Demo has finally been released for the US and all of North America.

At least you are optimistic.. if you place any stake in what Gabe or Tycho says, they like it:

When Bizarre Creations dropped a demo for The Club in the mysterious east (by which I mean Europe and Australia), I felt confident that it would arrive here shortly. I picked up a magazine and began to leaf through it, certain that any moment a demo for The Club would emerge. It didn't, and still hasn't, on the PS3 or Xbox Live. Those regions get screwed over with some frequency, so I took this as a kind of karmic reversal. I quickly set about creating "Yuropn" on PSN, a version of myself who lives in a manor house in Congleton, Cheshire, a man whose noble blood would grant him rights to the demo. After playing it for several days, in every mode, multiple times, I think it makes up for the slights they must endure the rest of the year.

The subset of the game they have exposed is flawless. Imagine an incredible, high-fidelity shooter level, cut into distinct routes the way cities are in PGR or Ridge Racer. Add to this the classic play of a "shmup," where enemy patterns, precise control, and iterative strategy maintain full engagement throughout each level. Affix to this pristine Goddamn marvel an almost rhythmic combo structure that ties deeply into these other systems - one where killing at a certain rate is key. Art and technical execution are... perfect. That is the word. If I'd seen this thing months ago, I would have bought these fuckers, too.

Well I used to take stock in what they said but then they liked Assassin's Creed. We'll see. I'll definitely try it.

I made a single run through the demo level earlier. It didn't really grab me, but most demos don't. Maybe when the full game is there I'll be more inclined to replay the levels to get a higher score. Without much backstory or purpose, the killing seemed like a kind of brutal I haven't felt in a game since the original Manhunt (and here I thought I was totally desensitized at this point...).

Controls were terrible - felt like a badly done Gears of War. Actually it felt like Gears of War with the look controls of GRAW2 ... ugh.

Just gave the demo a quick run through... seemed like the intro was a bit sluggish in the controls department. The intro was entertaining and interesting enough, but I wasn't grabbed by the gameplay at all. I'll try it a couple more times but as of now, no go.
