I'd have to say Quake 1. Half-life 2 is definitely the most impressive FPS (hell, almost game) ever, but there was something about playing deathmatch, Threewave CTF, TF, FvF, etc. that makes me say Q1!

I'm going to cheat and say the Quake series. Quake I was revolutionary, Quake II introduced the rest of the features we know and love and Q3A just got everything polished and right.

Quake III. I still shoot up bots to blow off steam, since I haven't had a decent internet connection in about four years.

No other game has addicted me as much as CS has. Played UT04 for a few months, it was great but I was able to break free from it. CS.... I always return hehe Source for me has been even better.

Max Payne series was great, and in it's time it was the best for SP FPS games. I'm not sure I could say HL2 is better, because bullet time never got old while the gravity gun did. Painkiller was excellent as well, and the stake gun is probably the coolest gun ever made.

For multiplayer, Soldier of Fortune 2 was to FPS's as Diablo was to RPG's. I played it for years. I only recently switched to CS:S which has grown on me, but there are things in SoF2 that CS:S will never have. SoF:S would be by far the best FPS ever concieved.

While playing CS:S however, I am sometimes reminded of wolfenstein: spear of destiny. I don't know why honestly.

Quake1. And it will take any FPS 7 years before it has even proven the test of time.

QUAKE series,
hands down, there just so amazing,

* memories * frag, quade damage, frag, awww, Headshot, Headshot, owned, *memories *

HL2 is a great FPS but the ending of the game was to easy, u do all those sick things to throw 5 or 10 engery balls at it. Great game up to the end. Remeber
