With The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, developer Starbreeze aims to give you everything you loved about last generation's Escape from Butcher Bay, but with so much more than a fresh coat of paint. To put it bluntly, Dark Athena is the geeky girl with braces, ratty hair, a lumpy body and a great personality that you turned down in high school, only to find out at your five-year reunion that she became a Victoria's Secret model. Fortunately, that stellar personality is still intact, and she's willing to give you a second chance to see all that she had to offer back in study hall, plus five year's worth of sexy new additions.

I've been meaning to post about Riddick. I remember hearing about a game that didn't make a big splash but people thought was incredibly good. Is it Riddick I'm thinking of?

Yea it's kind of one of those games that fell under the radar cus it's a "movie" game but it was awesome. Definitely pick it up if you can.

Nice to see something about this title. I thought it had been basically cancelled. The first game was outstanding in every way except its short length.

Yes it was. I've got it sitting on my shelf :). With the exception of some Doom-esque sequences, it was pretty enjoyable.

Videogames are pretty much the only medium in which Vin Deisel can come off as a believable human being.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it. I'm assuming it's not available on Steam?

Riddick was great. I have played through it once and am in the process of playing through it again.

ah, I'll have to look out for that then. I heard from the console boys that it was good but thought it was a console only release.

I think it was good because it wasn't really a 'movie' game. It used a 'movie' character but it didn't follow any of the movies. It was it's own prequel type thing for Riddick.

Another one that was under the radar for many Liet was Psychonauts. It was a great game which didn't get a lot of sales.

Escape from butcher bay IS AWESOME - if you have not played this game you need to. I'm sure it sells for like $10

Sweet. Butcher Bay was one of those totally surprise sleeper games. I played the demo, and knew I had to get the game. I hope the sequel lives up to the first one.

Ya i thought it was a remix too. One with 10 hours of extra single player content and multiplayer, thats what i read anyways.

Either way it will be good for those that didnt buy the original... which they should have! The original was a fantastic game, up there with half life 2 and farcry imo. Interesting characters, sim prison bit at the start (and later on too) various interesting and cool settings, who wouldve thought there would be so many different areas and enemies in a prison? Not to mention the weird people you meet, underground jamacan man? super old gay guy? I expected a drab shooter like FEAR, all grey walls and cells or at best a checkered floor like half life 2's nova prospekt, its waaay more than that though. I might buy this new one if its different enough from the original.

Played the Director's Cut while back and loved it. Had the same sort of atmosphere as Dead Space in that you are mostly solitary, moving through dark corridors. It was a stealth/action game as opposed to an out and out shooter. Anticipating this greatly.

I didn't think this was a sequel, I thought it was a re-mix of the original...

"This isn't just a brief campaign tacked onto the end of Butcher Bay. It's an entirely new single-player experience that's purportedly just as long as the original game, and looks just as great as that one did. Butcher Bay wasn't the longest game ever--10 to 12 hours,
say--but combined with Dark Athena, this will be a serious haul."

"From the time you insert Assault on Dark Athena into your disc drive, you'll have the option to play the remake of Escape from Butcher Bay, or jump right into the new Dark Athena campaign...Dark Athena is a direct sequel to Butcher Bay -- literally. Riddick awakens on the Dark Athena, a dark vessel with a seemingly infinite supply of steel corridors and plenty of hostile NPCs."

sounds pretty sequellish, or maybe an expansion pack.

What about the movie that's coming? I want to see that! I thought there were 2 more coming out. Maybe I misheard and it was a game they're talking about.
