Hello,

I was wondering, what the new, cheapest, but normal computer you can built now ... like for word processing and internet browsing ... under $150 ? under $100 ?

without monitor of course ;)

don't forget every part:
MotherBoard, CPU, Case, Memory, HDD, CD-ROM, floppy, Sound, video, keyboard, mice, modem

My roomate is selling an old PII 450 system, 20 GB, 128 MB for right around that much. I could pop in a decent graphics card and do just about everything, aside from the newest games.

$100 easy, no problem, for that purpose

i just sold one i made from parts from the for sale/trade forum for $145, it had plenty of power/space/ram for internet/email/word processing

Unless you get some great closeout or refurb deal on one of last year's $400 PCs it's probably an Asus sock370 barebones + Celeron + cheap Maxtor from Googlegear, still about $300.

For $150 you're getting used. Accept it and move on, or start saving up if you have to have new (why?).
